Getting your music signed

Getting one of your songs signed to a label so they can play it out on youtube and their distribution channel can be very difficult. There are several ways you can approach this situation. Making connections is the name of the game. There are thousands of managers looking to aquire a fresh new artists as one of their talents. Though there are only a select few that get a deal. What exactly can a manager do? Well there are several functions of the job as a manager. In this situation the manager would need to specialize in pushing your content to labels. Lets say that your new track is ready to be launched to the world. You now want to send it and pith it to the label specific to your style of music. Out of the thousands of applicants that submit their songs, how are your going to get the label to click play on your song? That comes down to the job of your manager who has access to email lists that goes directly to the labels. rather than having to submit your song through their website through with the thousands of other applicants. Here’s the deal. You must be 100% sure that the song your are submitting to the label is your best creation ever. You get one song to pitch to the label and if your song is a hit then great, they will sign it. On the other hand, if they do not, then you are in some tricky waters. What happens is that if the label is completely disinterested in your music and style they will take any of the future content you provide them and basically categorize it spam. Thus not giving you an opportunity to get your music in their hands again. This is due to the extremely high volumes of music they are pitched. That is why it is crucial that the first song you select peaks their interest. Your song also may not get signed, but they may like your style and ask that you submit other songs that could be a fit for what they are trying to release. Now, lets say that you get your song signed. You are now in the drivers seat and have a lot more options for your next music to come. Now that you were able to release one of your tracks through their label you hold some power to your name. This makes it a lot easier for your other songs to get into the hands of labels much faster and there is a higher chance they will sign your song again. It also allows for other labels to recognize that your music has been signed and when you pitch it to them it makes your music less of a risk for them to release. With new artists it can be a hit or a miss. If they see that another label released your music than they feel more confident about your music and so will you.
