Signing up as a subscriber to an email list can be tricky. The ultimate goal of the consumer is to stay updated with the companies offers, and receive relevant and important information. We should only subscribe to an email list if the company is sending emails that contain valuable information to us. The first step is understanding why you should sign up. I am currently subscribed to the Franchise Record Pool email list. The reason why I signed up to this list is because every morning I receive an email with songs they have selected as being the best songs of the day. Whether they are remixes or bootlegs, it is still very important as a consumer of music content that I fresh and new music. The email provides me with music that no one has access to listening to. Only by becoming a member can you download these songs. Because I am provided with relevant information that peaks my interest about 85% of the emails I open up. The subject line in an email is the most crucial component of receiving an email. The subject line that I see each time I open up the email is “Franchise Record Pool Daily Upload Report”. The allows me to understand immediately that when I open the email, the content that I wanted to listen to is in the email. The quality of the content that is provided in the email is spot on. As soon as I open the email, in bold writing is the top 10 list of songs of the day. I do not have to scroll down or click on an additional link to find the song list. The email provides me with the list of songs of the day and it is very convenient. In addition to the daily reports I also receive the songs of the week each Monday morning. This email does provide too much content. There are too many songs to sift through and it would take way to long to listen to them all. With over 150 songs to listen to, your are not quite sure that each individual songs is as good of quality as the top 10 list for daily reports.
This is certainly segment dependent, where there are only a select amount of individuals who are willing to trust the selection of music by an organization that they are not familiar with. Usually people want to listen to what they already know or heard on the radio. Not remixes of songs they have never heard of. For me I am certainly receiving the content that I had signed up for. In the next email, something that may peak my interest even more may be a shorter list of daily song reports. There are the top 10 songs for each genre and this still is a lot of music to take in. If there were the top 5, then I would know that each song is a hit.
